TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran is due to begin the construction work for building the world's largest Quranic complex in the capital city of Tehran next week.
Tehran Municipality will begin contraction work of Islamic word's hugest Quranic Complex on Ramadhan 15th at Abbasabad Hills of Iran's capital city, officials announced here Wednesday.
"The construction of this complex would definitely be one of the greatest cultural events in the history of Tehran," Deputy Tehran Mayor in Social and Cultural Affairs Mohammad Ayazi said,
"The Islamic City Council of Tehran has ratified a bill that led to the establishment of the Tehran City Supreme Quranic Council. That newly established council, too, has in turn proved the significant importance of publication, recitation, and memorizing the Holy Book, and the great value of the entire Quranic activities and sciences in the society, from the viewpoint of city management," Ayazi added.
"Tehran City Supreme Quranic Council that holds its sessions chaired by Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf ratified another bill on construction of the hugest Quranic Complex in Tehran," the deputy Tehran mayor said.
On specifications of the "Tehran Saraye Quran" he said, "This complex would be constructed on a 60.000 square meter land, that has already been purchased and the initial moves regarding the complex, including drawing its plan, too, are already completed."
The Deputy Tehran Mayor in Social and Cultural Affairs reiterated that the Tehran City Council, too, has allocated the required budget in its year's spending list and thus the Islamic world's hugest, most comprehensive Quranic complex would be built in Tehran.
He said that the annual International Tehran Qur'an Contests would naturally be held at this complex and the capital's Qur'an Museum, that is a need of our Islamic society would also be established at the complex.
Ayazi said that the Quranic complex that is comprised of seven main halls, an amphitheater a Qur'an Museum and other related places is quite unite in the world and even in such Islamic world countries as Saudi Arabia and Malaysia with huge Islamic centers.
The Tehran Municipality official added, "The project is scheduled to be completed and put to use in four years time."
